Duplicate Content Issues with URL RewritingThe duplicate content issues don't take a lot of discussion as the topic is fairly simple. When you start to change page names it is a very delicate situation as a main goal is to not create duplicate page names for your website. The best way to start using URL rewriting is with a brand new website and not an existing website. If you do start URL rewriting, you should use 301 redirects from the old webpage to the new webpage. This is essential as you do not want to use 302 or temporary redirects to the new website. The next thing to do is make sure that you remove all active links to the old page names. You do not want to continue sending the robots to the old webpage names as it will confuse the engines and potentially decrease your rankings. So, make sure that you only use the new page names, and that your redirects are all 301 redirects and you should be fine. NEVER USE 302 REDIRECTS
