Be Patient - Rankings usually take time

The unfortunate thing about natural SEO and not paid links, is that they do take time.  The changes that you make today will not be reflected in the search engines instantly, and it may even take many months for changes to occur.  So, do your research, learn about SEO, and make your changes cautiously, and wisely.  It is not good to flip-flop around becuase search engines tend to frown on frequent page updates for the purposes of SEOing a website.

Rule of thumb
Only make structural changes to a WEB PAGE 1 time per month.

So, never never never go to a webpage with the intention of improving rankings, and return a few days later to try again. This will not help your website, but only hurt it in the rankings.

It is OK, and recommended to added content to pages whenever and however much you want to. If your goal is to provide a better website for your viewers and not with the intention of persuading Google to give you better rankings.

So what does this cover?  It basically means that if you change the tags on a webpage, the meta information like title tag or description, don't touch it again for a while.

Make your changes.....slooooooooowly

Keeping your changes under control is the key to success.  Even if you have hundreds of pages to change and you can dynamically change hundreds at a time.  Don't do it.  Or at least proceed with extreme caution and expect a search engine backlash.

Focus on your customers

You may just do really good by simply putting together a website with good content that your customers are looking for.  This can be good for two purposes 1.)  You will have a better chance of having customers return to your webiste. 2.)  Search engines like natural content that reads easily and is gramatically correct.
